When I first listened to the tapes I was not able to feel completely relaxed because I felt distracted by the noise of the air blowing on the recording and I couldn’t really hear the person speaking clearly the sound was a little muffled. I listened to the tapes a second time and I was still not able to relax due to the noise on the background of the recording. I think it might also be listening to someone talk me through a relaxation technique that might be distracting to me. I believe that I can relax better if I would have listened to relaxing sounds or music. As for recommending this tape to someone else I would because we all have different techniques on relaxation and it might be of some benefit to them.
The concept of mental workout is to stimulate the brain by enhancing our learning not just through educational goals but through relaxation exercises such as meditation and concentration. These exercises will help to stimulate the brain and expand our way of thinking to a higher level of focus and if necessary to have a more positive attitude towards life.
Experts believe that when we exercise it releases chemicals that affect our way of thinking and that make us feel good and put us in a good mood (mentalhealth.org). When I perform physical exercise workouts and listen to relaxing music for at least 10-15 minutes a day sometimes more if possible. My mind as well as my body starts relieving stress and tension which causes mental fatigue. If I had a bad day at work it relieves my anger and frustration. After I complete both my mental and physical workout I feel like a new person and I am ready to face another day.
Hi Leonor!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your expression of the exercise; I found it difficult to kick out the background distraction as well. The more I listened, the more concentrating on blocking out the noise allowed my brain to work harder. I ma like that with many things; I will put the tv or ipod on for noise while working on something that requires a brain, as it makes me concentrate harder.
I know the feeling about being fatigued; it is amazing how sitting on my can working on the computer can make you exhausted! That is why my workouts are usually first thing in the morning. It gets my blood going, helps me face the day by sorting out what I plan to do, and I tend to sit less at work (because if I do, concrete will set up in the muscles and it makes it had to move!)
Thanks!
Warm Regards,
Jenn
Leonore,
ReplyDeleteMy first experience with listening to the exercise was difficult as well. Both my husband and my son were very noisy and distracting making it hard for me to concentrate. But after I was able to really listen, I have to say that it was very relaxing and I felt very positive upon finishing it.
When i tried to do it on my own the next few days, I opened my window and listened to the sound of the birds singing. I followed the steps to the best of my memory and when i forgot a step, i just made one up! It worked just as well. I think i can definitely incorporate 15 minutes a day to this exercise.

Leonor,
ReplyDeleteI agree that a physical and mental workout in the beginning of the day does create a far better day. I often find it hard to still do because I allow other things to have higher priority, and end up regretting it late. I think the key to the success of any fitness, and to continue trying, even pass disappointments. It is not easy incorporating new practices into our busy schedules, but I think if we continue to workout, the end result will be worth it!
Thanks,
Aja
